RBWM Early Years and Childcare Service

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM)'s  Early Years and Childcare Service provides support and challenge to all early years providers including childminders, pre school settings and nurseries and schools.  The remit includes the maintained, private, voluntary and independent sectors and covers the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The service is charged with raising standards in the quality of provision and thereby to improve outcomes for all children.  Safeguarding is also an important area of focus.

Members of the team visit providers; the frequency of visits is based on need with outstanding providers regarded as “light touch” in terms of support. However, all providers are able to make contact with their link officer over any matter that may occur to seek advice and guidance.

Early Years providers are supported by the Sevice to ensure that their practice is inclusive and meets the needs of all children including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We offer support and guidance and signpost to specialist services when appropriate. We offer support and training to Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCos) to ensure that they are confident in their role and well informed.

There is an overarching commitment to equality and a positive approach to enabling all of the borough’s youngest children to access high quality provision in early learning and care.
