Signal - Carers support service
SIGNAL supports adult carers of other adults with confidential, impartial information, understanding
and assistance in Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead. The service is free to use, funded by The Royal
Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and East Berkshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
A carer is anyone who provides unpaid help and support to someone else; a family member, friend
or neighbour.
You are an unpaid carer, for example, if you;
 Look after a friend, neighbour or relative when they have health or social care needs from
1/2 hour to 24 hours a day
 Help or carry out someone's shopping
 Do welfare checks on a regular basis
 Look after finances
 Take someone to appointments
 Help manage medication
Some examples of what SIGNAL could do to help you include;
Signposting and Support, by listening to you and providing encouragement and emotional support and directing you to the services there to help you.
Information, this could be about finance, benefits, health, social care and newsletters.
Guidance, SIGNAL can help you to complete forms, planning a break, help with carers assessments.
Networking, meeting other carers at support groups, lunches and social events.
Advice about Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding and your rights.
Learning training you need to help you fulfil your caring role.
