Activity Station

Activity Station

Activity Station was set up in January 2014 by Claire Eaves and Sam Hurst, who both live in the London Borough of Richmond-Upon-Thames and are passionate about supporting people with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Their combined experience, gained from caring for their disabled sons and working with people who have disabilities, is over 35 years.

Before having a family, Claire was a producer in an Advertising agency and volunteered in her free time for an organisation called ‘Share a Family’ in Wandsworth, giving respite to families with disabled children. Whilst having her own family she continued her voluntary work with Homestart (supporting families with children under 5) and Crofters (a club for disabled children in the London borough of Richmond) and was training to be a midwife when her son’s health deteriorated and was unable to continue. Claire now supports disabled people in their own homes all over London.

Sam is a qualified teacher and works in Further Education. She has over 8 years experience, teaching and supporting adults with a wide range of  learning difficulties and disabilities. Before teaching, Sam worked in IT Project Management in Financial Services.

Our Mission

To provide people with disabilities access to a range of fun and inclusive activities and social events in their local area that they can choose from. Such as art, drama, sports, music, social.

We also aim to work with local and national organisations, including charities to ensure that their experience and expertise, of working and helping people with disabilities, is passed on to Activity Station activities and social events wherever possible.
